Dr. Jeff Leinaweaver is a strategic sustainability strategist, organizational development professional, and internationally-known storyteller who works with organizations and leaders on crafting authentic narratives that best showcase their emergent sustainability story. Jeff has wide-ranging sustainability expertise in management consulting, intercultural communication, strategic leadership development, social performance, organizational storytelling, sustainability/CSR reporting, and training. |
Jeff has worked with and advised a diverse line up of organizations, communities and leaders, including Amazon.com, Kyocera, Olympus, The Associated Press, Salesforce, Johns Manville, Symantec, Umpqua Bank, The Smithsonian Institution, The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), and OUR Ecovillage. He is also one of the leading GRI-certified trainer-consultants in the United States by way of a strategic partnership with the ISOS Group, and a contributing writer to the Guardian’s Sustainable Business Column.
As a social researcher and fellow at Fielding Graduate University’s Institute for Social Innovation, Jeff explores topics related to the knowledge management of sustainability, social change and storytelling. He has served as faculty at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute/Pinchot University, Fielding Graduate University, University of Washington and at Capella University in the School of Business and Technology. Jeff is also certified in the Cognitive Edge approach to narrative systems research and organizational praxis.
Jeff has a PhD in human development and organizational systems and is a certified coach, organizational facilitator and global professional in human resources (GPHR). He holds a certificate in Permaculture design, and advanced teacher training in Permaculture. Additionally, Jeff is a certified sustainability/CSR reporter with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and a GRI Certified Trainer for the GRI and in partnership with the ISOS Group. Jeff has also been an associate of The Natural Step (TNS) Network and is a specialist in training and consulting on the Natural Step’s methodologies and framework for strategic sustainable development.
Aside from Jeff’s professional credentials, he is a voice-over actor, creative artist and musician. He is an avid student of Eastern philosophies and Jungian psychology. He has been an active meditator for over 20 years, studying zen, and other practices of mindfulness. He has worked and lived abroad in Europe, Asia and Latin America and traveled extensively to many other countries.
